Christian Duerden is the Founder and Design Director of Spectra Designs and Spectra Games.

After studying and graduating Industrial Design BA(Hons) at Loughborough university in 2010, I joined a small start-up as the sole designer in a team of 5. A few years later and that company had grown into a multi-million pound venture with over a hundred employees. There I moved into the role of Senior Group Designer, where I had the privilege of working across a huge range of clients and projects in the business' marketing and agency division, honing a multidisciplinary skillset that grew far beyond just product design. Illustration, Animation, Graphic, CAD, Typography UI and UX skills developed across some incredible projects with clients like Harrods, HMV, Diageo, and MasterCard.

Looking for a fresh challenge, I moved into yet another start-up in 2016 and took on the role of Head of Design and Experience. This time I got to develop a new brand image as well as the platform and services that would form the cornerstones of this new business. During this time I got to tickle my industrial design roots as a volunteer engineer in the Barclays Eagle lab (which just so happened to also give me access to 3D printers and laser cutters!) It was during this time I got to liaise with a number of fellow start-ups in our shared office space, taking on design advisory roles. But as fun it was seeing two start-up businesses grow from those early seeds, I felt it was time to have a crack at it myself.

So here we are today, 14 years later with a studio of my own, working on not only exercising over a decade's worth of multidisciplinary design expertise to help businesses small and large achieve beautiful designs and experiences, but working on a long overdue passion project that has quickly ballooned its own business arm.

That project is 'Fall of Yggdrasil', our in-house project. It's an exercise in everything I've learned maturing into a fully fledged product soon to be mass manufactured and internationally distributed with the incredible support of partners Wingo Games and M.O.B vanguard. With the support of an incredible family (and two perpetually disgruntled cats) I have a passion help bring to life your incredible visions, and make them a reality.
